Aluminum Castings are products which are manufactured by the industrial process of casting. During this process metals, aluminum in this care, are given various shapes to fulfill various functions. However for giving aluminum the best possible shape the casting process is used widely in the industry.
Uses
Aluminum Castings are used in various products such as vehicle parts, as essential parts of transmission containment units, as parts of pistons, in aircraft component manufacturing, in the construction industry when making tall structures or buildings, in the manufacture of submarine engines, in making household appliances and hardening equipments and more.
Methods
During die casting molten aluminum is poured into a metal dies which are also called mold. More often these molds are made of steed for better durability and for increased toughness. The molten aluminum is poured into the molds under a great amount of pressure. It can be said that to make the best quality of aluminum casings, the best quality of molds are required as well as they are central to the metal product’s quality.
The two main varieties of making aluminum castings employed by Aluminum Castings Manufacturers are die casting process and sand casting process. In the die casing process the molten aluminum is poured into the molds under great pressure and temperature. The advantages of this process include high efficiency and good surface finish. This process has some sub steps like preparation of the die cast, filling, ejection and shakeout. In the die preparation stage the casing die is prepared accordingly. Filling involves pouring of the molten material. In the industrial process lubricants are first used on the mold to control the temperature and also for the easy removal of the casting. After the dies are closed the molten aluminum is poured under the pressure range of 10 megapascals to 175 megapascals. Once the mold is filed by the material the pressure itself solidify the molten material inside it. The next step is the application of ejector pins to eject the dies. In the last step of shakeout, scraps are effectively and efficiently removed from the shot by a power press machine. Sometimes a hydraulic press is used as well. The last step of shakeout also includes sawing and grinding to refine the molten material and to ensure that it is of the best possible quality. So although there are many other techniques for making aluminum castings, this is the best process
