Industrial batteries are an electrochemical storage device that transforms the stored chemical energy into electrical energy. These are precision engineered, durable and provide long lasting power to run/ operate light & heavy material handling equipments and other machinery. The term industrial batteries encompasses a wide range of batteries that are used commonly in industries such as mining, railroad, food and beverage plants and many more. Some of these batteries include inverter battery, lithium batteries, VRLA battery, lead acid batteries, motorcycle batteries etc. These are available in various sizes, capacities, voltage, operating temperature etc. to cater to all segments of the market.
Features of industrial Batteries:
Features of industrial Batteries:
- Industrial batteries are used in places where it's practically impossible to install electric wiring for power.
- Made from premium grade materials, these are advanced and power efficient; usage of these does not escalate the overall costs of a maintenance or manufacturing facility.
- With some precautions, these are fit to be used in extreme weather conditions and also have a high tolerance to UV rays.
- Present day batteries are easy to install and require only a certain amount of maintenance along with their periodic inspection.
Safety precautions to be taken with regards to the use of Industrial Batteries:
Unlike other batteries, the industrial batteries normally contain more potent & harmful acids and corrosives etc., hence, giving utmost emphasis on maintaining some safety standards is all too apparent.
- These should never be disassembled
- Batteries such as traction battery, forklift battery, sumo tubular battery should be installed and serviced by using tools having insulated handles and after verifying the charging power supply to the battery is off. Moreover, proper care should be taken so as to ensure these are not inadvertently grounded
Never use industrial batteries in an equipment for which it is not intended
- Old and new batteries should never be used together, also, mixing batteries having different cell chemistry should be avoided at all cost
- These should neither be overcharged nor reverse charged to prevent the risk of the batteries swelling and rupturing
- Nothing should be soldered directly to an industrial battery to eliminate any chance of damage to the safety vent of the battery
