rayon fabric
Introduced in the year 1900 for commercial use, Rayon is a synthetic textile material manufactured by regenerating cellulose fiber. It is made from purified cellulose which is acquired from mainly wood pulp and chemically converted into a soluble compound produce strands which are chemically solidified, resulting in synthetic fibers. Rayon fiber is also considered as semi-synthetic fiber because it is manufactured from naturally occurring polymers. Rayon fiber is versatile is also called as artificial silk because of it a silky texture. But the drape and slipperiness of the fiber resembles more like nylon and can also make the feel of cotton, wool and linen.

Rayon fiber can easily be dyed in a wide range of colors. The silky smooth texture of Rayon also makes the wearer comfort and cool. Unlike Nylon, Rayon is ideal for hot and humid climates. Rayon fabric is much stronger and durable in nature. The appearance, durability, and retention of regular rayon are low. Also, rayon has low properties of elastic recovery of any fiber. However, high-wet-modulus rayon aka HWM rayon is much stronger. It exhibits higher appearance retention and durability. The recommended care for regular rayon is dry-cleaning and high-wet-modulus rayon can be machine washed also. But the advancements in technology has increased the durability of the fabric with more variety which is easy to manage and maintain. Also, rayon fabrics can easily be bleached.

However, some rayon can be sensitive to chlorine bleach because of the finishes used in it. Cool to lukewarm water is added with gentle squeeze suds and gentle suds through fabric and rinse. Knitted fabrics should be left flat so that they can dry faster. The fabric is pressed at a medium setting while it is damp or dry. It is often sufficient to press on the wrong side of the fabric. Otherwise, one can use a pressing cloth to press on the right side of the fabric. Damage can happen to rayon fabrics from silverfish, acids, and mildew. Sunlight is not harmful.

Rayon offers a range of variety, style, and fashion. It is used in making various garments, apparels and accessories with attractive color patterns and is designed as per the taste and style of the clients. Aloha shirts, blouses, dresses, Jackets, Lingerie, scarves, suits, ties, hats and socks, bedspreads, bed sheets, blankets, window covers, upholstery and slipcovers.
