As the name suggests, binding machines are used to bind multiple pages together. Everyone of us would be aware or would have faced certain situations in the past when it was difficult to handle and even store innumerable number of pages together, resulting in irritating and sometimes distressing situations such as misplacement of pages etc. Binding machines ensure the prevention of such situations. - Electric binding machines – Ideal if the volume of materials to be bound is very large. To operate these, the user has to press down on a foot pedal
Types of binding wires that are generally used with binding machines:
- 2:1 binding wires – To summarize, this simply means that the wires will basically be threading through 2 holes per inch of a document. These are ideal for instances where the total number of sheets is high
- 3:1 binding wires – As the name suggests, the wires will be threading through 3 holes per inch of a document. In comparison to 2:1 binding wires, the looped wires will be spaced more closely.
- 4:1 binding wires – Also known as binding coils, using these means that the wires will be threading through 4 holes per inch of a document. Using these also means that the looped wires will be placed the closest, ensuring a much tighter binding
Uses and advantages of binding machines in a workplace:
- Binding machines are essential for any workplace. These allow for easy arranging of documents and thus prevent any misplacement of important papers
